About GoldPrices.sg & Our Methodology
GoldPrices.sg is an independent comparison of the gold and silver rates Singapore shops publish online. As of 23 Oct 2026, 7:04 PM SGT it tracks 27 rates from 9 sources. We do not buy or sell gold.
What the numbers are
- Selling price (Buy): what the shop charges you per gram of gold. For jewellery, a making charge and 9% GST are usually added.
- Cash buyback (Sell): what the shop pays you per gram when you sell, after it tests and weighs the gold.
- Trade-in: what your old gold is worth per gram towards a new piece at the same shop. It is not cash.
- Bank bar prices: UOB's buy and sell prices for its 1 kg 999.9 gold bar, divided by 1,000 to show per gram. Banks buy back bars, not jewellery.
Purity
- 999 (24K): 99.9% gold.
- 916 (22K): 91.6% gold, the most common jewellery purity in Singapore.
- 750 (18K): 75% gold.
- 999 silver: 99.9% fine silver (bank silver accounts are priced per troy ounce, 31.1 g; we show per gram).
How we collect and check rates
- Several times a day an automated collector reads each source's public rate page once, identifying itself as GoldPricesSGBot, waiting between requests and following each site's robots.txt, including crawl delays.
- Each number is copied exactly as shown, with the shop's own timestamp where it gives one, and our check time.
- Selling, cash buyback and trade-in rates are stored separately and never mixed.
- Every value is compared with the international spot price × purity. Values outside a plausible range (for example a buyback far above spot) are dropped and logged, never corrected or guessed.
- If a shop's page can't be read, its last good rate (less than 36 hours old) is shown and labelled; older rates are removed.
- A shop whose own timestamp is 3 or more days old is labelled “Not updated recently”.
Spot reference
The international spot price (gold-api.com XAU and XAG in USD per troy ounce, converted with open.er-api.com USD/SGD) is shown for context only. No shop buys or sells at spot.
Featured shops and ranking
Rankings are always by published rate: lowest selling price, highest buyback. Featured shops are partners; rankings are always by published rate. Currently featured: none.
Sources checked but not included
- SK Jewellery: Rates are filled in by script from /api/, which the site's robots.txt disallows.
- Poh Kong: Website did not respond (connection failed) when checked on 22 Oct 2026.
- Lee Hwa Jewellery: Website shows a 'coming soon' page with no gold rates.
- Malabar Gold & Diamonds: Gold rate page loads its numbers by script; nothing readable in the page.
- Joyalukkas: No gold rates found in the Singapore page's HTML.
- BullionStar: Prices are per product and load by script; no per-gram rate in the page.
- Silver Bullion: Shows international spot prices and per-product prices, not a per-gram shop rate.
- GoldSilver Central: Prices and buy-back are per coin or bar product, not per gram.
Indicative rates. These are the per-gram rates each shop publishes on its website. Jewellery prices usually add a making (workmanship) charge and 9% GST on top of the gold rate; investment-grade gold (bars) is GST-exempt. Buyback offers are made after the shop tests and weighs your gold, and can differ for damaged, hollow, stone-set or branded pieces. Confirm the rate with the shop before you go.
