Does SGX have gold futures?
Not at present. SGX launched a 25-kilobar gold futures contract in October 2014 and withdrew it in 2018 because of low trading interest. In June 2026 SGX said it is exploring a physically deliverable gold futures contract for Loco Singapore, alongside an OTC gold clearing system due by end-2026; no launch date has been announced (The Business Times, 15 Jun 2026). A separate Singapore exchange, Abaxx Exchange, lists an Abaxx Gold Singapore Futures contract (launched June 2025). We have not confirmed whether retail investors can trade it.

Where can I buy gold in Singapore?
You can buy gold in Singapore as physical gold from jewellers, bullion dealers and banks, as “paper gold” in a bank account such as the UOB Gold Savings Account or OCBC Precious Metals Account, as a gold ETF on SGX (SPDR Gold Shares, codes O87 in USD and GSD in SGD), or as gold futures through MAS-licensed brokers such as Interactive Brokers, Phillip Nova, moomoo, Tiger and Saxo, which mainly offer US COMEX contracts. Can I buy gold futures in Singapore?
Yes. Several MAS-licensed brokers give Singapore residents access to gold futures, mostly COMEX contracts in the US: Interactive Brokers Singapore, Phillip Nova (also via POEMS), moomoo SG, Tiger Brokers SG, Webull SG, Saxo, KGI Securities and OCBC Securities. SGX does not list a gold futures contract at present; its 25-kilobar contract was withdrawn in 2018, and in June 2026 SGX said it is exploring a new physically deliverable gold futures contract (Business Times, 15 Jun 2026).
What is the smallest gold futures contract I can trade from Singapore?
The COMEX 1-Ounce Gold future (1OZ) covers one troy ounce. Interactive Brokers Singapore, Phillip Nova and moomoo SG list it. Micro Gold (MGC) covers 10 troy ounces and the standard Gold contract (GC) 100 troy ounces.
What is paper gold in Singapore?
Paper gold is gold you own on an account statement instead of holding bars. Examples are the UOB Gold Savings Account (minimum 5 g, can be converted to 100 g bars for a fee) and the OCBC Precious Metals Account (from 0.01 oz, non-physical only). Gold ETFs, futures and CFDs are other non-physical ways to get gold price exposure.
Is a gold CFD the same as a gold future?
No. A gold future is a standardised contract traded on an exchange such as COMEX. A CFD is an over-the-counter contract with the provider that tracks a gold price; you do not own the gold or the exchange contract. Both are leveraged.
Do I need to pass a test to trade gold futures or CFDs in Singapore?
Futures and CFDs are Specified Investment Products. Brokers must assess your knowledge or experience first, through a Customer Account Review (CAR) for futures and CFDs, before you can trade them.
